The Vision

By 2025 all children will play the Wonder Adventures in any park in the world, thus discovering new ways to relate to Nature, to others and to their own wonder, while learning the essential skills that will prepare them to become leaders in the regeneration of the planet.

The children of today can lead the regeneration of the planet and the reconnection of humanity by growing up as free, compassionate, creative, and committed citizens of the world. Our educational adventures are designed to foster these important skills.

Our Wonder Adventures

The School of Wonder is dedicated to helping children from all over the world move towards this vision by sharing our Wonder Adventures.

With a mix of story-telling and creative games, our Wonder Adventures immerse children in fun real-life adventures, inside and out in Nature.

Each child becomes the protagonist of a mission-based fantasy story. They are invited to explore unknown places, solve creative challenges, communicate with and care about others, and connect with their own inner wonder.

We share learning adventures with kids in parks, schools, camps, and at home. Some are self-directed, and others rely on the guidance of a Wonder Magician, an imaginative ally that helps kids unlock stories in the world around them.

An Invisible Learning Framework

Children learn social-emotional skills by navigating new challenges and situations. We apply an invisible framework of social-emotional learning so that the children can enjoy the adventures and magic without feeling observed. Learning happens along the way.

The Wonder Method focuses on four directions as shown on our Wonder Compass:

Adventure-based Learning

We’ve named our unique approach Adventure-Based Learning. It is through direct experience, imaginative play, and story-telling that children can best learn the ingenuity, perspective, compassion, and autonomy they need to become agents of their own destiny.

Since 2017, we have been working with a NYC-based conscious community of artists, educators, neuroscientists, and community builders. Together we create transformational experiences that prompt eye-opening and heart-opening moments of learning.

With the guidance of educational experts in social-emotional learning and creativity, we have developed a unique methodology that combines the following principles:

Connection_Permision to play.png

1. PERMISSION TO PLAY

We create a safe environment for play and exploration.

The School of Wonder creates a respectful and judgment-free learning environment where kids can feel confident to express and discover themselves freely. The experiences are especially designed to allow for spontaneity and intuitive thinking to arise. Adults act more like guides than enforcers, and as the trust between them and children develops so does a sense of student-agency.

2. SHARED EXPERIENCE

Our imaginative games and adventures are immersive learning experiences.

These learning experiences are based on play and collaboration. Each of them offers a new outlet of creativity and self-expression that will allow children to connect emotionally and creatively to themselves and their peers.  Some of these experiences will invite in and incorporate various collaborators; such as musicians, performers and teachers.

3. METACOGNITION + REFLECTION

Our games and tools for reflection help kids understand what they have learned.

We make sure we provide moments for reflection and feedback at critical points along the learning journey. We use facilitated discussion, games, and activity books that accompany our at-home adventures to enhance these moments. These fun and engaging activities help children to deepen and integrate the experiences they have lived in the School of Wonder with their lives. They can also act as a portfolio to show students’ work and track learning progress.

4. INTEGRATION + TRANSFER

Shifting new understanding from Wonder Adventures to real life happens naturally.

After living a wonderful experience, children can integrate what they have learned and transfer this to their lives. These open-ended and creative adventures will help them gain a greater perspective about real-life matters; they will also provide plenty of memories that the kids will continue to recall years later.

Sources of Inspiration

We are inspired by many sources of knowledge including artists and scientists. These fascinating humans and their theories illuminate our creativity and prior experiences to go further in our journey. From each of them, we have selected specific methods, philosophies, and techniques we believe are the most useful for our learners to have healthier relationships and lives full of wonder.
